Today was simply amazing. I got to meet so many new people and get to hang out with so many friends.
Today was a day run on Kenyan time. An event that was supposed to start at 9 am started at 1 pm! I got to meet the MP of Migori County and it was amazing. At 11 am a big lunch was served in the dining hall. It was ugali, rice, beef, kale, cabbage, chapati, pineapple, watermelon, and oranges. Such an amazing meal!
During the dedication ceremony of the Huruma Dolor Technical Institution, there were many songs, speeches, and poems. They gave gifts to the guests, including me, but as I went up to the front to accept the gift, Mjomba Peter said, “You are one of us.”
Because of the celebration, there were so many visitors. I got to hold so many babies and I enjoyed it so much!!! This morning, a lady in the kitchen handed me her baby and I held for a while and she fell asleep! She lived up to her name and is most definitely Precious.
Tonight the house was occupied because some were having a meeting in there so I could not go to sleep directly after supper. Honestly, I’m thankful for that time though, because I got to spend it with people who are so special to me.
I had some really good conversations with three of the college students. We talked about religions, churches, friends, and what to do when you don’t have a church near you. It truly was an amazing time.
After I got done talking to them, I sat on a swing and the children came and sat beside me. We sang songs and talked in Kiswahili and just enjoyed ourselves.
I can’t believe that I have the privilege to know these people!!💞
