These people are beautiful!!
The day began with us meeting the other helpers at the storage hall. They loaded the big truck with all of the PCB gift items. When they were loading the flour, they created a line of people and created a chain. It ended in throwing the bags down the line and being covered in a coat of wheat flour! I also learned to say salaam to your peers, not salaamji. Ugh, another salaam issue! Hahaha!
We went to the first distribution and the women and children were very ready for greetings and hugs. They were so friendly and welcoming and I was very humbled and blessed to be in their presence.
They had their official welcome for us; they placed flower lathes around our necks and threw rose petals at us. We started service. They sang a song, and then we sang a song. After that, dad preached, prayed for the ones who came forward, and then prayed for the sick.
We began distributions and I was the one who collected tickets. Dad wanted me to sit, as not to loose strength, so I had a bag to collect while Bro. Shazad, Bro. Hasroon, and Joshua stood beside me, attempting to organize the chaos. After the families were done, we moved to the children’s gifts, hoodies and candy.
That’s when things got way more hectic! I opened hoodies out of plastic bags while Joshua opened the the candies and then dad gave them to the children. Later, Karissa, Trenton, and Joelan came to help as well. The children kept on pressing in on us and we had to put a string barrier up to keep them from the gifts.
After all of that was over, we went over to the storage hall and they unloaded it for the night. We took Bro. Hasroon and Joshua to get pizza for dinner. After that, we found out that the brick kiln we were supposed to go to tomorrow was not ready for us, so we will be going to a different one tomorrow.
Being here, I realize how much Christians risk for their faith. Please keep the saints here, and especially Bro. Shazad and his family in your prayers. We are also praying for Bro. Shazad’s health and for God to give him a healing touch.
