My morning started at 2:30 am and I only got an hour of sleep after that. Everyone was up and ready earlier than usual, so we young people went on top of the roof, and even though the fog was so thick, it was cool and adventurous.
At 7:20 am, our driver arrived to pick us up. We were supposed to be at the storage hall at eight and we got there ten minutes early. The truck, Bro. Hasroon, and Joshua didn’t get there until 8:30. While we were waiting, Dad and I stood outside watching people think we were locals! When the truck arrived, they started packing up the truck, and then Bro. Hasroon and Joshua arrived, so we went with them and some of the other workers to eat breakfast. At breakfast, I asked Joshua if Anna, his younger sister, would be coming today. He said that she wouldn’t be and I was very disappointed.
The drive to today’s brick kiln was super beautiful. When we arrived, I saw Anna step out of the car with her two brothers, Joshua and Abram, and her father, Bro. Shazad. I was so surprised and so delighted that she came! I was able to spend a bit of time with her and she is so sweet. They began welcoming us and Bro. Shazad told me to walk in the front with dad. Not too sure why, but I did so, and I got the brunt of the rose petals. My right glass lense was filled with petals!! Joshua and Abram were in front of us, walking backwards and videoing. When they saw the situation they started laughing which made it harder for me not to laugh!!!
It was a much smaller distribution compared to yesterday, so I got to spend longer amounts of time with the people. Sadly, due to strength levels, I wasn’t able to do much other than collect the tickets from the children. After I completed my job, I met a little girl who stuck with me almost the whole rest of the time. Her name is Liza, and she’s an orphan. She wouldn’t let go of a hug, so since I was done working, I just stood there hugging her for about thirty minutes. I told her I loved her, not knowing if she would understand or not. She responded in an adorable Pakistani accent, “I love you too!” I pray for God to bless her in her life.
After many, many selfies and photos, Bro. Peter at this brick kiln guided us around and told us the process that they go through making the bricks and gave us some information. Joshua was the translator once again. Liza saw me videoing with my GoPro and wanted to video it herself, so I gave it to her and she was so cute and so concentrated on the camera! After the tour, mom and dad went to pray for someone. Our driver loves the frisbee and wanted to play with us before we left. Joshua, Trenton, Amjad, Joelan, Danish, Abram, the driver, Anna, Karissa, and I played and had a fun time.
We went to the storage hall and prepared things for tomorrow’s distribution. We then waited for Bro. Peter to get there. It took him a while to get there, and so while we were waiting, we all had an enjoyable time. Bro. Hasroon said something again about me saying “Salaam, Baba Ji!” At least he’s still laughing about it!
I’m looking forward for the day to come and hope that we can make a positive impact on someone.
