Tomorrow is the big day.
Two years ago this month was the last time I stepped onto African soil. I thought I’d be back soon—but God had other plans. These past couple years have brought chronic illness, heartache, healing, and so much growth.
For a long time, I imagined my next trip to Africa would take me back to Huruma. I dreamed of a joyful, tear-filled reunion—playing soccer and volleyball, trying to teach the kids American football, sharing meals, and holding hands with the little boys as we walked the field, laughing over the few English words they know.
But for now, God is sending me back to Tanzania.
I can’t wait to hold the children, play with them, speak in their language, and just be there. I’m excited to smell the warm, earthy air again and feel that quiet sense of being home. It will be hard being so close to Kenya and northern Tanzania without seeing my people there, but I’m praying the door will open to visit them soon.
While I’m away, I’ve scheduled a couple blog posts to go out. If you happen to read one, please say a prayer for me. I want to be the hands and feet of Jesus—to the team I’m traveling with and the people I’ll meet. I’m also bringing some specific things before the Lord while I am there and asking Him for wisdom and guidance, so if I ever come to mind, I’d be so grateful for your prayers.
To those who’ve walked this road with me—thank you. Truly. I’m praying for you too: that God would guide, strengthen, and encourage you wherever you are. Whatever you’re facing, look to Him. He’s everything we need—and more.
Trip dates: July 7th-17th
With love and prayers,
Vanessa
