The Voice We Listen To

There’s always a voice. Sometimes it whispers in the quiet of our minds, sometimes it shouts through the noise of the world, but it’s always there. But the question is, whose voice are we really listening to?

Too often, we lend our hearts to the wrong voices. The voices of people who put on a smile, who say the right words, but who don’t truly care. They wrap lies in gentle tones. “You’re not enough.” “You’ll never be free.” “Why even try?” Their words cut deep, not because they are true, but because they are close enough to wound.

Then there’s the enemy, the father of lies. His voice is insidious. He knows where our scars are, and he presses on them, whispering that God has abandoned us, that our past defines us, that we will always be broken. Sometimes, we don’t even recognize it as him. We just hear the echo of shame, fear, and despair, and assume it’s our own heart speaking. But make no mistake, those chains of condemnation were never forged by God.

And then… there is His voice.

The voice that speaks in the stillness, when we finally stop running. The voice that doesn’t condemn, but calls us higher. The voice that speaks through His Word, through prayer, through His children—those who dare to love us with His love. This voice says, “You are mine.” “I am with you.” “You are loved beyond measure.” It’s not always loud, but it is always steady. It is the only voice that brings peace in the storm, the only voice that calls us by name instead of labeling us by our failures.

The truth is that the voice we listen to shapes the life we live. If we listen to the world’s lies, we’ll live chained to them. If we listen to the enemy’s whispers, we’ll walk in fear. But if we dare to tune our ears to the voice of the Father—the One who spoke galaxies into being and still bends close enough to whisper to His child—then we find freedom.

Maybe today, you’ve been torn apart by voices that don’t care, that only wound. Maybe you’ve believed lies for so long that they feel like truth. Ask yourself, whose voice do you want guiding your steps?

The God who made you is not silent. His voice is steady, and it is love. And when we choose to listen to Him—really listen—the noise of the world fades, the lies lose their power, and we remember who we are. Chosen, forgiven, loved, His.

So today, tune your heart. Turn the dial away from the counterfeit, and lean into the only voice that speaks life. Because His voice doesn’t just tell you the truth. It is the truth.

Much love and many prayers,
Vanessa
