The Bible tells us there is a time to weep and a time to mourn, and faith does not mean skipping over those times. Even Jesus wept. He stood in the presence of sorrow and did not turn away from it. That alone tells me something important. Grief is not a lack of faith. It is evidence of love.
I’ve been holding tightly to the promise that God is near to the brokenhearted. Not near in a distant, watching way, but close. Close enough to catch every tear before it falls. Close enough to sit with us in the silence when words feel too small. Close enough to remind us that nothing we are feeling surprises Him.
Some days, hope feels strong. Other days, it feels quiet, and I have to lean in to hear. And that’s okay. The Psalms are full of questions, laments, and honest cries, yet they are still worship. Bringing your whole heart to God, even the aching parts, is an act of trust.
If you are carrying something heavy right now, please know you do not have to carry it alone. You are seen. You are loved. And your sorrow matters. One day, God promises to wipe every tear from our eyes. Until that day, we walk together, trusting that even in the valley, He is still good and still holding us.
May we be gentle with one another, and may we rest in the hope that death does not have the final word. Our God is a God of life, of resurrection, and of eternal hope, even when our hearts are hurting.
Much love and many prayers,
Vanessa
