Walking on Water with Wobbly Knees

Most of us remember Peter for sinking. He took his eyes off Jesus, looked at the waves, and down he went. But pause for a moment and look behind him—at the boat.

Peter may have doubted, but he got out of the boat. He was the only one who did. Eleven others stayed huddled in the safety of the familiar. Peter’s feet were soaked with faith. Wobbly? Yes. Imperfect? Definitely. But he walked.

Faith isn’t about flawless courage. Sometimes faith is trembling as you take the first step. Sometimes it’s whispering “Lord, if it’s You…” and then daring to move before your fears catch up. Faith doesn’t always feel bold—it just chooses Jesus over comfort.

The middle of a miracle doesn’t always feel miraculous. It can feel uncertain. Scary. Like wind tugging at your cloak and waves threatening to swallow your next step. But Peter shows us something powerful: it’s better to walk with wobbly knees than to never leave the boat at all.

Jesus didn’t scold Peter for stepping out. He caught him when he fell. That means Jesus honors even the risky, shaky yes.

So what’s your boat? A comfort zone, a fear, a place where you feel in control? The miracle didn’t happen inside the boat. It happened in the wild place—on the water. In the middle.

Don’t wait for your knees to feel steady. The call is now. The miracle might not be the calm—it might be the courage to walk through the storm.

Amen! Such a thought. If we all would get out of the boat and walk then What at great things God could do through us. Let us walk, even on wobbly knees!
May the Lord continue to bless you, Vanessa.
